Some years ago this was relatively simple even in quite competitive markets but today it has become much harder as the Internet has grown dramatically and the search engines are now much more sophisticated at assessing sites and determining just which sites should be given high.

The main drawback to submission services is that they require you to commit yourself to an ongoing monthly or annual payment and they are often extremely expensive.

If this is a route which appeals to you then you should check out a number of options and to look carefully at precisely what each product can and cannot do. Are you provided with a submission record so that you are able to see easily just how successful each submission has been?

A final consideration is whether you should submit the same article to the directory sites, or should create a series of 'unique' articles from your original article so that each directory receives a different version of your article? Many people will tell you that it really does not matter and that the present debate about duplicate content is considerably overblown. Other people however will tell you that, while it may not seem to be important in the short term, in the longer term the search engines will discount many of your links as they find them to be from identical articles. Once again the secret here is to test for yourself and see exactly what results you get.

Should you feel that submitting unique articles is the right route to follow then you will need to investigate the range of article rewriting software available. Once more take the time to look at each program carefully. Most software programs are extremely fast and simple to use, but also produce absolute rubbish! However, there are a few software programs which, although they require a little more work, create some first class results. There are also some software programs which will not only generate unique articles but also 'package' them for import into some of the article submission programs.

There is no doubt that submitting articles really does work when it comes to building links for your site and will bring in free search engine traffic. You do however have to setup a submission process which suits your budget and work routine and this means testing the system until you achieve the results you want.
