Did you know any of the first few full-bodied tattooed persons? There are brave people who had their full body tattoo transformation. Usually, those who chose to transform their body were driven by popularity, previewed success and money. The Great Omi, a typical British citizen who originally named Horace Ridler was one of the known full-bodied tattooed individuals. Ridler chose to be in show business and he intent to become a sideshow attraction, hence in 1922 he had totally transformed his body. Wide black even animal-like stripes were tattooed all over the body of Ridler. His tattoos were his passport to success in the field of show business. Leopard spots were entirely tattooed to Tom Leppard, which enabled him to be considered as the Worlds Most Tattooed Man under the Guinness Books of World Records. A very well know Stalking Cat of Washington State had also become known for his catlike split upper lip. He wore long jewels in his multiple cheek pierces. The pieces of jewelry complement his catlike tattoo markings that accentuated him to be almost like his totem animal. There had also been a known Lizard Man whose tongue was split with teeth filed to points. Anyone who had seen him perform on stage would really be astounded of acts like swallowing a sword, swinging off the body weights on body pierced areas and eating fire. Other known performer for sideshow was The Enigma whose tattoos made him appear like a living blue puzzle. The Enigmas other pride was his large ear, lip and body piercings and implanted horn on the forehead. Twenty two tattoo artists had simultaneously worked on his body, which was a real world record at the Amsterdam Tattoo Convention. Just think of the endurance which was mustered by The Enigma. Did you know where the cultures of body tattooing and body piercing have been commonly observed? The introduction of pigment through punctures in the skin to create patterns or the process of body tattooing was practiced in Ancient Egypt. It has been noted that the natives who had the most elaborate tattoos and body pierces begot greater respect. Moreover, some of the highly intricate body tattoos have been found from among the cultures of Oceania specifically the Maori of New Zealand. Japan in its contemporary time has its Yacuza, organized gangsters that have also been flaunting full body tattoos. The sailors during the ancient time had manifested an early interest in the body tattoos of the Pacific and since then the practice of tattooing had persisted among seamen. In some of the African, Australian and Melanesian cultures, scarring or cicatrisation is most commonly practiced instead of body tattooing and body piercing. The effects of this scarring are also similar with body tattooing. The difference lies exclusively on the techniques used. Six cuts are made on the forehead of the initiated boys and the scars remain for lifetime. Some prisoners in any parts of the world do subject themselves to body tattooing as marks of identity that give them respect while they're inside the prison cell. Each culture varies on how it executes body tattooing and body piercing rites and the purposes behind it, but the common bottom line is that the body modification gives impact to the person's being. For thousands of years, body piercing has been existent in many different cultures for different purposes. The Bible, an ancient religious book, mentions that earrings were melted to build idols. Also, it mentions that body pierce was considered a symbol for wealth, high status in the society, and power. Body piercing was used for aesthetics or beauty. The ancient Egyptians were known to have used body piercing as a sign of wealth. In certain cases, only the royalty were allowed to have body pierce. The Pharaoh, most especially was entitled to have his navel pierced. The Romans used body pierce for a different purpose. Romans pierced their nipples in order to show their honor and loyalty to the Roman Empire. A Gladiator would pierce the head of his penis during combat believing that this would prevent serious injury during the life battle. The ancient Latin Americans were known to have used body piercing for a religious reason. They believe doing so will bring them closer to their gods. The Indians, too, pierced their noses as an emblem of strength. They believe that this would frighten their opponents. Body piercing, too, was used in the early times to be sexually stimulating, especially in the Central and South America. Did you know that the duration for conducting body tattooing depends upon where the tattoo was operated? When you want to have body tattoo, the first thing you would consider is the design. Should it be small or big? First and foremost, size is the primary consideration. The bigger the tattoo, the longer is the procedure for body tattooing. The complexity of the design is another factor. The more complex the design is, the more time required for body tattooing. The artist has to plan out meticulously and carefully and craft creatively the design to your skin, and it takes considerable amount of time to do this. Size and complexity of design are the two primary considerations to know about the length or duration of the body tattooing procedure. Another factor is the area where the tattoo will be placed. Those areas which the artist has an easy grip like the arm and the legs take shorter duration in body tattooing whereas those which are flat surfaced area like in the stomach takes longer time to conduct the procedure. The skin in the arm and legs are a lot easier to apply the tattoo dye because the skin in these areas can be easily stretched while those in the stomach are a lot difficult. Skin stretching is essential in applying the tattoo. Did you know that some teens find it hard to convince their parents of their wants to have tattoo or body piercing? There are unsolved issues between the parents and the children which are coined as generation gap. Hence, there are times that what is cool to the children is unacceptable to the parents. How does a teen resolve his wanting or his assumed need to be acceptable to his peer group? For adolescents, acceptance is a big issue that helps them determines their self-identity. Who would want to be rejected from a group? Of course, every teen would presumably do everything just to be accepted no matter how high the stakes are. No matter how painful and unbearable is the aftermath of a body tattooed or pierced part, a teen can survive any of the pains and bravely face the health threats. A teen that has been rejected is likely to suffer from damaged self-esteem and scarred emotion. Is acceptance the sole bottom line why some teens would persevere much in convincing their parents to allow them to have their tattoos and piercing? Acceptance is just one of the influential factors that drive a teen to get his parents approval. Tattoo or piercing is merely a passing fad, but this is a big deal for a number of teens. The parents must be involved in the decision of whether to have the tattoo or piercing because some projected risks must be well-understood. Did you know that body tattooing and piercing are as old as the human civilization? Many cultures have been practicing body piercing and tattooing for centuries. How was the long history of body art proven? A 4,000 year old tattooed man that was discovered on the Austrian borders' glaciers, was a proof of the lengthy history of body tattooing. What is the connotation of every culture's tattoo and or piercing? In different cultures tattoo or pierces may connote fertility, nobility or royalty, for ornamental, cosmetic and religious purposes, criminals' identifications and punishment, identification of valor and virility. Body tattooing and piercing have long been practiced and have somewhat become common to many. However, every person must be fully aware that the presence of either body tattoo or piercing varies in purpose and each person has different impression on a fully tattooed person or greatly pierced individual. We can hardly remove the practices of tattooing and piercing, universally speaking, because these two have almost become integral parts of the humankind. However, the issues on question here is that whether the exaggeration of tattoo or pierces would be acceptable to different borders of the world. The competitive arena of employment marginalizes those who are with great number of tattoos and pierces for stereotyping that these people are either into drugs, gangs or evil-like influences. The body tattoos and piercing had been part of man's lives for centuries, but with the advancement of time, the orientation about what is good and acceptable to the community varies.
